I know, I know, I said I'd have this done yesterday but the first rule of Big Brother: Expect the Unexpected.
Lol, no that's just a cop out. The bottom line for me was that I had a bad day at work, BB17 was on, and I was just generally not in a good place last night so I postponed it so the quality wouldn't drop! I wanted to be in my best form for y'all!
REMINDER: take lots of bathroom breaks in the middle of reading my confessionals, and don't forget to hydrate! I'm a long-winded bastard.
Alright, let's get into it! First off, let's talk about the twists! I really like the cliques twist (I mean "planets" twist
) because anything that gives me immunity I am TOTALLY down for. My teammates all ended up being very cool people who I could see winning challenges in Da'Vonne, Steve, & Renny (at the time) so ultimately I liked it. I need one of us to win HoH next week literally just so that I can take an extended nap. Laziness FTW. The other twist is Planet X, which I also feel pretty okay about! Anything that throws chaos into the game is fun...until it's working against me, so let's see how this all turns out. After seeing how it turned out this week (all of them negative or at least not positive), I'm not super anxious to go myself but hey you never know!
So we get everyone's AIMs & the challenge reveal begins and holy shit was that a giant clusterfuck! Literally like every player (but Laura lol) was on and chaos ensued. The group chat was moving at an insanely fast rate that I felt like I couldn't get a word in, I had a few people message me...it was chaos. I don't do good in group convos, I'm too quiet and shy I guess so I wasn't having much fun.
Anyways, the results were revealed and Laura won HoH her team (whatever planet that is) was deemed entirely safe and my team was vulnerable! And thus, the socializing truly began. And with a whopping 15 other people to talk to, boy did I have my work cut out for me. I'll go ahead with my thoughts on each person in alphabetical order:
Alison Irwin : I have not talked to this girl. She seems to always be on, but whenver I've tried to contact her I get nothing back. At one point she was like "Sorry Jason, I was at work. I'll talk to you soon!" but one of my pet peeves is people who leave themselves as "active" all the time so that you never know if they are really on or not. It's annoying. So nothing to say here, let's move on.
britney : Britney was one of the first people to talk to me, and she's a totally sweetheart. We had a real quick convo while the results were being made, but after that it was silence until last night. I was worried she'd be nominated because of her lack of presence literally all day yesterday, but was glad to see her avoid it. We finally spoke again last night and had a totally awesome conversation, the first one really to go personal with me. We talked about our jobs, lives, etc and it was all nice. We never once talked game, which for me is a total plus. I like to get to know people before I go on ~that level~. Though she said something a little weird at the end ("you give off a great first impression"...which like, so my second one is going to suck?) but otherwise I'm a fan of hers.
caleb : Caleb is another one who I haven't really gotten to say much of anything to. We had a nice little chat the premiere night and kinda just talked about BB17, but he went to bed real fast. He seemed ok? But really I have nothing concrete to go on, so no comment on Caleb. But him holding up the POV
IS a little annoying. I think he's the last one that needs to do it? Maybe I'm wrong.
Casey Turner : Casey was the first person to come up to me, and I really respect that. He's very, how do I say this.... "Casey-ish". Like, all his posts I totally hear in Casey voice and he's very much a bro-ish cool dad typeof guy. I like him in general, but I have found him a bit hard to hold conversations with. He's alright for me in the end, a nice guy but there's no great connection there yet. But I think Casey has potential if the awkwardness goes away.
Da'Vonne Rogers : Mama Day! This is my first "teammate" I get to talk about, and boy is she an interesting one. She's another one who is very in character to for me. She's very down to business, all work no play, and a little blunt in her delivery. We have a group chat going and Steve tries to start like little fun convos and she's always like "I HAVE A PLAN!" and ignores him and it's pretty funny tbh. Those two could be a comedy team. She wanted to try and make some kind of cross-tribe alliance with the winning team and me Steve and Renny were all kind of just like "..........................................................................................." because that seems so ill-advised. Luckily, she disappeared and we never got around to that lol. She's an interesting player, but I'm worried she'll get herself targeted soon because of that. We'll see. I like her overall, and know she'll fight hard for HoH which keeps me safe, so I'm down with Mama Day.
Jace : Jace, Jace, Jace. He's an interesting one, and the first one of what I'll be calling the "
Big Guns" of the season. Right away I knew he'd be a major threat. He's ALWAYS on, very active, and an overall social guy. He's at the center of all the group conversations. I just get the vibes that he's going to be a PLAYER this season. Not necessarily a good player, but a major one. That's my vibes. On a personal level, I didn't really get to talk to Jace until this afternoon and he's very charming. We decided that we are the secret twin twist of the season (our names are similar) and talked about BB. So I like him, but I figured he's charming everyone.
Jen Johnson : This girl is a bit of a mystery to me. My first impression was that she was a little abrasive, kinda rude in that group chat. I don't even remember what it was (maybe something sassy to the host), but I wasn't really dying to speak with her. But we did eventually talk yesterday before noms and she seems nice enough. I think we got along well, but it was all surface stuff. She could be a big gun, but for whatever reason I'm not feeling it. She'll certainly be a player though.
jessie : This dude is nominated. I didn't speak with him, never saw him online before that. So after nominations he came up to me and was like "this is f'ed up, he reasons were bullshit". But like....you have to talk to the HoH or they will nominate you, ESPECIALLY week one. So that shows a lack of intelligence right there. And anger. My gut says he'll probably go? Unless Kevin just disappears.
Kevin Campbell : Speaking of Kevin, he was also nominated. I spoke with him a little bit before noms and he seemed nice enough. Very vanilla, but it wasn't a very long convo. And he just kinda disappeared halfway through. So, no real opinion there. Between him and Jessie it's literally an "I don't care" situation at this point. I'd lean towards keeping Kevin simply because he's on my team. But that's all for now.
laura : Our reigning HoH is an interesting case for me. Everyone thought she was going to go inactive that first night because she literally like disappeared for the entire first night of the game. The panic some people had *coughStevecough* about it was funny. And when she finally DID come back on, she was a bit of an all over the place mess. Steve thinks she might be from another country because her grammar is really bad, and that would make sense. When all is said she's a sweet but blunt girl. The funniest thing for me about her was that she just drops out of convos after she's done and will respond to your last post like....hours later as if nothing happened. More on that specifically when we get to my next confessional. But she didn't nominate me so she's fine with me!
Nick Uhas : This guy is the second "
Big Gun" of the season, and someone who immediately gave me pause. Again, not that he's not a cool guy but I can just tell he's going to be a P-L-A-Y-E-R. Why? He's ultra social, has always started conversations with me and posted in the group conversation. And second, he got Laura to pick him for Planet X when very few people had even spoke to her. So that's a big sign. Also, his decision with his jetpack was interesting and very shrewd imo. He's been nothing but pleasant, but I think everyone is going to love the fuck out of this guy. Personally, he's nice but pretty meh for me so far.
Rachel Reilly : This girl. I originally had her as a big gun but demoted her for pissing me off. She seems very active, but I've tried to talk to her literally 3 separate times and she always bails immediate or just stops responding after like...2 posts. So I'm kind of over her. That just says to me she has no interest in talking to me, as does the fact that yesterday we were both on for like 3 hours and she never once tried to talk to me. I've stopped trying, over it. If I won HoH next week she'd be a target by virtue of not giving a shit to even try and talk to me despite activity.
renny : First off: Renny is my absolute favorite BB contestant of all time! I literally use "It's Inappropriate!!!!" on the reg. As for the player, I also really like her! We haven't had super in depth conversations by any means, but she's easy to talk to, someone who isn't on all the time (a big red flag for me--the people with no lives whatsoever worry me), and is just generally chill. I like her and want to talk to her too. I wasn't surprised when she was chosen for Planet X. She's a "
Big Gun" too, a very savvy player imo.
Steve Moses : STEVEY! I freaking love this kid. First off, I think he'll really rub people the wrong way at least to start because he's very ~in character~. He's super awkward, he references a lot of what the actual Steve does and says and if you aren't quick he probably gets it by a lot of people. He's very much a nice kid at heart, and someone who is here to play. His in character-ness keeps him for being a big gun, but I really like him.
On to our budding showmance: we were having a convo that first night and it was gradually getting more and more strategic and fun. I use a lot of smiley faces and sarcasm, especially with someone like Steve whose humor I just ~get~. And all of a sudden he starts using phrases like "doing take this as me hitting on you" and "don't tell the girls about us" and and at first I'm like "............wtf?" To be clear, I think he was mostly joking but I decided that he wouldn't expect me to flirt back, so I just went for it and we had like a good 30 minutes of awkward flirt strategizing. At one point he spoke in Spanish and I responded in French and he got all adorable, it was all very jokey jokey fun. We decided to be a bromance (I christened us Stevson), it was all very cute but also really fucking weird guys. So are we ~really~ a showmance? NO! Literally since that night it hasn't come up. But we are officially an alliance/pair that I feel ok about. And who knows, maybe it was blossom into something.....~more~
Victoria Rafaeli : Of all the players, for whatever reason I got an IMMEDIATE bad vibe from Victoria. And I don't even really know why? She just comes off very...shrewd and intelligence in a slightly aggressive way. Our first conversation was literally her talking about how she doesn't give a shit about the teams and she needed to talk to everyone not on her team while throwing Steve's ideas around. It rubbed me the wrong way. Since then, our convos have been generally awkward but never like hostile and I hope I've been faking it with her. But she's just rubbed me the wrong way. She's the #1 "
Big Gun" for me as well, getting picked for Planet X and I've only heard good things about her from other people. She worries me long term, but I'll fake it with her for now.
Alright, this was really really fucking long so I'll cut it short here. Real quick, the CC&C stands for "cool, calm, & collected" which is generally my strategy this first week. It's a lame title, but something I said to Steve so I'll keep it for now. A preview of upcoming confessional topics:
-My worry on nomination day & the conundrum of Laura
-The ramifications of Planet X & those jetpacks
-Alliance talk! Yes, I've been invited into an alliance in a really bizarre way lmao
I'll write this soon-ish. Not picking a specific date this time, didn't work out well for me last time. Thanks for reading my incoherent ramblings!
