Hello, dahlings.
I apologize for just now getting around to a Diary Room entry. To be honest it's taken me this long to find the "Create Thread" button, so that's probably a great omen for my success in this game.
So, I realize that there isn't a whole hell of a lot to talk about just yet, but I wanted to pop in and say how excited I am for this game. The board is just mesmerizing! I think it will prove to be a fun, yet challenging adventure, and I fully intend to come out on top.
I suppose I can provide a little insight into my first impressions of some of the cast and what my strategy is moving forward. Last night was the premiere, obviously, which meant AIM was literally blowing up with messages. I'm not particularly fond of the "get to know you" conversations, especially when almost the entire cast is online. So, naturally, I retreated to my room to watch Vampire Diaries on Netflix. I did, however, try to chat with a few people. I know that first impressions are crucial, so I definitely wanted to make some early connections. However, I also didn't want to be perceived as this social butterfly so early on in the game, so I worked to try to find the appropriate balance. I don't know how successful I was. I certainly don't think I made any significant connections or impressions last night, which could be an early detriment, but I also put myself out there enough to where I don't think I will be in any impending danger this first round, giving me time to build more solid connections throughout the week.
Some of the people I have had the pleasure of connecting with so far include Jen, Nick, Jace, Da'Vonne, Steve, Victoria, and Britney. I chatted with a couple of other folks, but nothing of any true substance. I get a really good vibe from most of the people I chatted with. Steve seems a little odd, but I think he's just playing up his character. Meanwhile, Jen is funny as hell, but she seems like the type that's not afraid to stir the pot and make waves, and I think she'll become a big personality and a force to be reckoned with, so I want to keep my eye on her, for sure. Nick and Victoria were probably my two favorite people to chat with. Nick seems super level-headed, and as prissy and princessy as Victoria is, she was also really sweet throughout our conversation. Da'Vonne seems pretty cool as well, as does Britney, but our conversations weren't as significant. Obviously, no form of trust or alliance has been formulated between myself and any of these people, because I personally feel it is too early to put myself out there. However, I don't plan on waiting too long, because I don't want to end up out of the loop.
Team Neptune had a chat last night while I was gone, but I was able to catch up this morning. They were plotting to make connections with the winning team to ensure that our entire group is safe. Da'Vonne seemed to be spearheading the movement, saying we need to make sure we make solid connections with the people on that team. I don't necessarily disagree, but I do think that we are going to have to be extremely careful about it. I'm pretty certain our team can't be the only team with this plan, so we really need to work to make our connections feel organic. I'll play along with it for now, but my primary concern is my own safety, so if I can make connections and the team connection never pans out, I'm fine with that. I don't have any sort of connection with my team thus far, and it can be difficult to look out for 4 people, so I'm going to be a little selfish for now until I form something of substance with a group of people.
Moving forward, I just plan to make these connections seem as organic as possible. I want people to like me, and I want people to feel like our interactions aren't forced. I'm typically not the best at this, so I'm really going to have to put in the effort to make those natural connections. I really want to find my partner in crime to team up with, and start forming an inner-circle from there, in hopes that this group can help keep me safe for the early stages of the game. I'm not afraid to turn and backstab if I need to though, depending on what the shifting dynamics require of me. But for now, it's all about the connections.
